- Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
- Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.

House Management
The Guest Services House Manager ensures a welcoming and safe experience for all theater patrons. Responsibilities include ensuring the theater is clean and orderly before and after performances, assisting with guest seating, informing ushers of the expected audience size, and managing the guest services desk, which offers listening devices and accessibility information.
The House Manager collaborates with the box office, backstage teams, and custodial staff to ensure smooth performance operations, addresses patron concerns, and maintains a safe, clean front-of-house environment. They also oversee front-of-house staff, ensuring excellent customer service and a positive experience for all guests. Employment begins early June and runs through mid-October.
Essential Functions
- Attending mandatory training sessions scheduled as early as May to ensure proficiency in assigned responsibilities and safety protocols.
- Managing public interactions by addressing questions, resolving concerns, and handling patron complaints with professionalism, empathy, and a focus on positive outcomes.
- Coordinating all front-of-house preparations, including seating arrangements, usher assignments, and accessibility accommodations. Managing crowd flow during arrival, intermission, and departure to ensure a smooth and organized experience for all patrons.
- Moving stanchions and signage, stocking publications, and performing other light custodial duties.
- Collaborating closely with the ticket office, volunteers and stage management to enhance guest experience and facilitate the smooth execution of each performance.
- Serving as a primary point of contact for guests on-site, offering assistance and information about the Utah Shakespeare Festival activities, including the Greenshow, Backstage Tours, Seminars, and performances.
- Mandatory participation in the preseason setup and postseason strike of house management supplies and equipment. If schedules conflict, a make-up session is required.
- Participating in monthly scheduling meetings as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for emergencies, coordinating with staff, patrons, and emergency services as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the theater.
- Completing other duties as assigned, showcasing adaptability and a willingness to contribute to overall team success.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred; training will be required if not already certified.
- Previous experience in live theater, event management, or a customer service-related role is preferred.
- Availability to work shifts lasting 4–6 hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, within operational hours of 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM.
Skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong physical stamina, including the ability to remain at an assigned station, possibly standing, for extended time periods, and performing physical tasks such as moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to handle theater preparations, crowd control, and other front-of-house responsibilities efficiently.
- Professional demeanor and appearance while representing the festival.
